utah arts festival 2008

The activity for today...the Utah arts festival. We were lucky enough to enjoy the art and heat last summer and decided to give it another try this year. Josh loves the kid zone where he can make his own art. I love all the rest of the amazing booths.

Josh & Dylan

Heidi, Eddie, & Dylan and Jordan & Haley met us after the kid zone. Josh was excited to find a new bow and arrow and I of course found some new silver jewelry.

a very full saturday

So much to do and so little time!
Who would honestly believe that you can make a decent amount of cash at a yard sale? I have to say that I wasn't a believer, but am now. Today the Brittany complex was hosting their annual yard sale. I had few big ticket items I wanted to get rid of instead of trying to haul them off to the D.I. and found some other junk I thought might become someone's treasure. Mims went through her house too and when we got everything all put out on the driveway, we had quite the stash!
We were busy gals most of the morning. Josh put on his swim trunks and filled up water balloons and played in the front yard while we were busy making our fortune. And sure enough we ended just shy of $500. We made the money we needed to pay for the beach house when we go in September. Yippee!

After we cleaned up what little was left, Josh and I headed to the pool to cool off. It was so hot today!

Then we went to see the new Disney Pixar movie Wall-e with my parents. It was a sure crowd pleaser!
The night ended at Brett and Holly's house with Chinese for dinner and games. Landon was very busy watching Josh play on his 'computer' otherwise known as a Nintendo game boy. Mean while, Brett and I were getting our butts handed to us in hand and foot by Mims and Holly.
What a fun full day! We all made it home and our heads hit the pillows as fast as they could. :-D

weekend fun

Josh was home for the weekend and we had a great time. We started with our...his favorite place to eat for lunch of Friday, Training Table and then due to my sprained ankle spent some time at home. Josh was invited to a birthday party that night and unfortunately it started out a disaster full of tears due to his shyness, but eventually he turned it around and he had a great time.

Saturday we helped a friend with her garage sale, built a new animal at build a bear, went swimming at the pool and finished with the Incredible Hulk at the drive in. It was a full day of lots of fun activities. (I would not recommend the movie, however).
Sunday, we took it pretty easy and mostly played at the pool and at home. After a quick bbq at the Monsen's, Josh was headed back down to Highland to play with his dad and his cousins.

SLOW recovery

So the super woman that I believe I am thought the healing process would just cruise along even though the doctors told me it would be 4 days on crutches and then minimal weight after that and then possibly another trip to the doctors if it still didn't feel healed. My foot hasn't been in pain, although I haven't been on it at all. But the super woman that I think I am thought it must be better and tried today to start putting pressure on it. Not such a smart move....

My injury is real and it hurts to walk on it, so I guess I will have to stop playing super woman, ask for help, and follow doctor's orders. This will take some practice!

I was safe!

Tuesday night...softball night, at least in the summers and I LOVE it. I have so much fun playing with my brother and all of his security buddies. I, however, keep forgetting that I am old!

So let me set the stage. Gorgeous June night, perfect weather for a ball game and I am gearing up to go. The game has been close through 5 innings. It was a true see saw battle, back and forth between innings. There were 2 outs and I was up to bat. I had already hit at all my at bats, but had only made it on base once. We were tied and there was some pressure to perform! I swung and sure enough made a connection. I chucked my bat and started for first base. It was going to be close. The first baseman was getting ready to catch the ball and get me out. I could see the ball being thrown and I was so close. So I pushed a little bit harder and tagged the bag. I was safe!

Unfortunately, this is what I look like at the end of the night. My amazing run to first base ended with a perpendicular ankle to my leg on the edge of the first base bag. The first baseman was shielding the bag with his body and I was trying to tag up so I slipped my foot to the edge of the base and that is when I rolled my ankle.

I couldn't put any pressure on my foot and was carried off the field. I was in so much pain. A team from the other field saw what happened and ran for a bag of ice. But the game was not over, we still needed to pull out a win! I was waiting for my brother to finish and run me up to the ER, but they were continuing to battle it out. But as I mentioned the team is all security and police that work up on campus. One of the officers was there watching the game and offered to drive his police car down to the field, throw me in the back, and drive me to the UofU ER. That was quite a seen! ...And my team pulled out the first win of the season :-D

Turns out I have severely sprained my ankle. There doesn't appear to be any torn ligaments at this point. However, I will be on crutches for the next four days and then minimal pressure after that. I will not be playing softball for at least 4 weeks. My poor old body!

love you cobey!

Diane, I don't think anyone had the pictures of you as the tennis star in Mexico...what a bummer! I had to honor you this way :-D

Cobey, you will be missed. Thanks for being the amazing soul and friend that you are. It was so fun to spend the evening with you tonight reminising. I wish you all the success in Ohio. Go Buckeyes!

park city

It was our last full day up at the Marriott resort today. We didn't have any kind of agenda other than having a fun day. We slept in and took our time moving this morning and then we were off. We started playing some hoops. Then made some bird feeders and goofed off over at the kids zone. We also caught a few rays at the pool.

After a shower and some lunch, we went with my brothers back to the outlets. However, we spent our time at the playground this time. Josh wasn't up for shopping and I am out of funds!

SMILE!

We finally went back to the hotel and hooked back up with my dad. He had been in Salt Lake this morning. He is a lone ranger this week while my mom is in Colorado with her mom and sister. His vote was to walk main street and check out some of the art galleries.

We surprised him with dinner and the main street pizza and pasta for father's day. This week has been great fun. We have missed you Amy, Lee, Heidi, Eddie, and Dylan!

park city

You have to love Utah weather. Earlier this week, I woke up to snow and this morning it was a beautiful sunny warm morning.
We started this morning by taking it easy. Josh buckled down for some cartoons and then built a fort with the pillows on the bed.

Once we started moving, we decided to head over to the alpine slide area. We took a ton of pictures.

The first ride was the ski lift up to the top of the alpine slide and then of course the slide down!

Next we headed over to the roller coaster slide. I love that one.
Finally, my parents and brothers decided it wouldn't be a complete experience without the zip line. Josh kept telling my mom that she was chicken, so of course she had to prove him wrong. And Curtis and Jordan wanted to see who could get down first. There isn't any competition gene in my family! :-D

We then headed back to the hotel for some swim time. Michelle and Josh played in the water and I got to get some sun. That is my kind of pool time!

The rest of the evening is about relaxing. I had some down time while my mom and Mims played games with Josh. We had dinner and of course played a few more games. My mom is headed to Colorado with her sisters and Mom tomorrow, so our numbers are dwindling, but there is still plenty of fun to be had tomorrow.

park city

Thursday, I picked up bug from his dad's and Michelle, Josh, and I headed up to Park City for the weekend. I am so excited to have bug a boo with me for the weekend!

We had a pretty relaxing night. Josh and I smooshed up on the window seat. I read and he played his game boy for a while. My dad slept. My mom was reading in her room. And Mims and Jordan just hung out watching t.v. and playing on the computer. It was very calm.

We then decided to leave Josh with my parents; they played games of course and my brothers, Mims and I headed out. We went and played some pool and had a fun time.

Love my brothers!
After an eventful night we went back to the hotel to sleep. We have a full day of fun planned for Friday!
