early play date

Michelle was able to pick Josh up from school today. Josh was very excited for an extra play date. They decided to go up Millcreek Canyon and enjoy the beautiful 80 degree weather and the gorgeous fall leaves.

They had a great time and Josh found a lot of fun treasures. And can you believe the color of the leaves?!

utah vs weber

Utah game day!

Jordan, Kari, Mims, and myself had planned on being at home watching the game and playing games. However, we found out mid morning that the game was not going to be televised, so we quickly got tickets and got pumped for the game.
Utah pulled out the win over Weber, but unfortunately looked pretty sloppy by the end of the game. I think the defensive went home when the fans started packing up. Final score 37 to 21.

We had a blast and I enjoyed the beautiful sunset as well.
GO UTES!

my little buddy

I was lucky enough to babysit Dylan this week. He was my little buddy for the night while Eddie and Heidi went out for a date. He is adorable!

my soccer star

Josh had his second soccer game tonight and although I didn't take in my camera, I wish I had! Josh got to play goalie tonight for part of the game and the first ball that came at him went right through his cute little legs. I thought for sure he was going to break down in embarrassment, but he pulled it together and continued the game. Once on the field, he played hard and is getting better about getting in the mix of the other players chasing the ball. After his game he said, "Mom, I am getting better with every game!" It is so fun watching his little ego and self esteem grow.

its a playdate

Today was a play day and Josh decided on the Children's Museum. We haven't been there for a while so it was fun to get back there.

Josh loves playing dress up and make believe so the Children's Museum is a perfect place for out play time. And honestly, it doesn't matter where we go, I love spending quality time with my bug!

i am a new aunt

I am a new aunt today and this is my new nephew. Amy and Lee you do good work! This picture came via my phone and isn't the best, but I couldn't wait to see him. He is far far away in Boston and I am hating that I can't run up to the hospital to hug my sis and her hubby and kiss my new nephew.
He isn't named yet since they just found out he was a boy today, but he was 7 lbs and 13 oz. I completely forgot to ask how long. And my sis did this without the epidural! I can't wait to see him in person. LOVE YOU GUYS in Boston!

book review

Holly is married with two children but not sure if she loves her husband. Olivia’s long term boyfriend left her suddenly, and she hasn’t gotten her life together since then. Saffron is a successful actress in Hollywood, but she’s in love with a famous married actor. This once-close group of friends has drifted apart over the years, but they are suddenly jolted back into touch with each other after the tragic loss of a friend. Their friendships are renewed as a result, and they come to help shape each others’ futures in unexpected ways.
Jane Green’s Second Chance is a well-written, readable story that moves quickly. It has moments of seriousness and sadness, including a terrorist attack, that take it out of Green’s usual chick lit territory—and might turn off some readers. The bottom line, though, is that Second Chance is a solidly enjoyable novel that will appeal to Green’s many fans.
I bought this book at the airport on the way to the beach. It has been forever since I have found a book I really liked. This one I loved. It was a fast read and made me think about my own life and relationships. I would highly recommend this one even if you aren't on your way to the beach. Happy reading!!

how cute are they when they sleep?!!

He is totally snuggling up to my stuffed elephant (my favorite animal by the way). SO CUTE!

utes vs air force

Another away game for Utah means a party at my house. My parents came and we got in a few rounds of the card game hand and foot.
Curtis and Laurel stopped by after driving back from and air show in Wendover.
And of course Jordan, my entrenched Utah sibling, and his buddy Biggie.
We had food and of course the football game was on. However, I had to sit down and focus on cards for most of the second half. I was benched for yelling at the t.v. But honestly, what was Utah thinking?! They looked horrible and probably shouldn't have won the game. But they came through in the last minute and a half with a touchdown and an interception. Dang good thing! Next week is Weber State for homecoming...I plan on being in attendance. They better have a better performance than this week!

Thanks for stopping by to say hi Nikki and fam! We missed you Heidi and Amy!

lets go out tonight

Wednesday night I was lucky enough to be invited to go see the musical Cats with Michelle, Rebecca, and Amy. It was pretty short notice, us getting tickets Tuesday night and I thought for sure my parents would be available as my fill in babysitter for Josh. However, they were busy. Fortunately, Heidi stepped up and helped me out.
We went to dinner at Bambara downtown and then headed over to Capital theatre. I have to say that Cats is not my favorite musical by any stretch of the word, but it was a fun evening.
Josh had a great time with his cousin Dylan and his aunt Heidi and uncle Eddie. I was shocked to hear that he was willing to get in the tub with Dylan. I don't have any cute tub pics with the siblings since he doesn't have any. But how adorable is Dylan looking up at Josh?!!
We all had a fun night out!

2008 soccer season

Josh started his soccer season with his first game tonight. We ended up skipping our activity in order to get dinner and homework taken care of so he was ready to play hard. He was so excited!

Josh's number this year is 3. The field is three times what it was for the kindergartners and they have a goalie. And Josh's team is just the right amount of players, so he played the full game and had a blast. He had some great defensive moves and almost scored a goal. It is so fun watching him!

the happiest place on earth

I am never ready to leave California without a trip to Disneyland. I had seriously considered skipping it this time due to all the other activities we had planned and the second we hit the Disneyland parking structure, I was so glad that we ended up going.

The park wasn't very crowded which was nice and we had already been on all the "big" rides before noon...so we did them again, plus some shopping, and eating, and finished the day with the parade. What a way to end an amazing week!

is it time to go already?!

Today was our last full day in California and we all LOVE the beach, so we packed up our cooler and towels and headed there for the day. The weather did not cooperate with our last day and it was cold and breezy, but that didn't stop Josh from enjoying himself.

Yes, I am wearing a long sleeve light weight sweatshirt...I was cold!

Josh is a total water bug. I have no idea where he gets it from because it certainly isn't from me. But he had a blast boogie boarding sun or no sun. Over the last week he got pretty good at it too!
The sun finally came out around 4:30, an hour or so before we left the beach for the last time this week. And I got to take my sunset pictures that I love and enjoy the grandeur of the sun's beauty.
This week has gone so fast. Thank goodness we are stopping at Disneyland on our way to the airport. I can have a few more hours of fun!

water, sand, and sun

The beach vacation is coming to an end so we are going to spend our last few days on the beach. We were out playing all day in the sand and enjoying the crashing of the waves and of course the sun!

sea world

Sea World Adventure was the activity of the day.

We went with Michelle's brother Brett, sister in law Holly, and their kids. We checked out the shows with Shamu, the dolphins, and of course the sea lions Clyde and Seamore.

Josh's favorite part of the day was feeding the dolphins, the sea lions, and seals. He even fed a bird who stole the fish right of his hand.

We were exhausted by the end of the day. Mims sat down to rest while Josh and I monkeyed around on the playground.

Would I pay the $175 for all of us to get in again? Probably not, but we did have a good time. We stopped at the Carlsbad outlets and I found 2 pairs of my favorite boyfriend jeans. YEAH! We have 2 more full days and beach time and more sun is on the agenda for me.
