aliens...really aliens?!!

Tonight, Mims and I went to grab some grub at the Dodo at the Gateway Mall and check out the new Indiana Jones movie. Josh saw it with his dad last week and of course loved it and was certain I would too. The reviews I have heard from other people included, 'it was not really an Indiana Jones movie, predictable, and why aliens.' Dinner was delicious for which I was grateful because honestly aliens?! I was super disappointed in the movie (Lindsey I am rating it a -2 with your mom!).

welcome to the world

Chayce Roger Monsen graced the world with his presence on May 28th at 10:56 am. He was a whopping 9 lbs and 10 oz and 21 inches long. He is a total cutie!
Brett and Holly (Dad and Mom) are hanging in there after a long day.
Aunt Mims has a new nephew to via for the 'favorite' spot. I think Chayce may have it for the time being!
Josh and I were lucky enough to be invited to the hospital to meet little Chayce. Josh loves babies and was ready to take him home and leave Brett and Holly with their oldest Landon.
Josh took a diaper from the hospital to practice changing diapers on his stuffed animals for our upcoming trip with the Monsen crew in September to California. Brett and Holly have already assigned him to diaper duty in order to earn his keep.

too many activities and not enough time

It is Wednesday and would anyone be surprised to find out that our mom and son day started at Training Table?! The kid is addicted to the cheese fries.

After the delicious lunch of chicken strips and cheese fries, we headed to the Clark Planetarium. Josh loves to go there and just bum around. There were a few exhibits that have been changed and Josh knew right away which ones those were.

After taking in as much as we could about the planets and solar system etc etc, we did some goofing around in the gift shop. Josh tried out being a dinosaur and a sea urchin. He decided he was ok being him and picked out a model airplane to take home and put together.
But wait, there was still daylight left and Josh is a party animal like myself, so because the sun was shining, we headed over to the swimming pool to take a dip. I am certain this will be the new standing activity (after training table of course) now that the weather is getting warmer!

My little fish is very proud of his ability to tread water!

memorial day game night

It is Memorial Day and the last full day to spend with my sis and her hubby. We had all the best intentions to be at the pool goofing off for as long as we could stand it, however, the weather did not cooperate with us in any definition of the word. So my family decided to come over around 4 for a BBQ and of course more games. It is all we have done all weekend!

Josh was happy to spend some time with his aunt and uncle as well as his super cute cousin Dylan. He even built a fort for them to play in that was off limits to the adults. Amy and Lee are on their way back to Boston in the morning. I am so glad we got the weekend with them!

birthday celebrations continue

The birthday celebration continued for Mims today. We were able to go to her parents house and spend some time with her parents and her brothers and their families this afternoon. Cake choice - yellow with white frosting.

Next we went to my parents for a rib dinner and of course more cake. Cake choice - chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

After dinner, we played more games. And the agenda for tomorrow...weather permitting the pool (and a few more games). Hope you had a good birthday Mims!

game night

I love the summers because my house becomes the party house. Given that Amy and Lee are in town, the fam headed over to my house after the baby shower to play games into the wee night.

We played games and ate food and enjoyed each others company. I have said it already, but I am very lucky to have such an amazing family. We missed you Heidi and Eddie...and Dylan!

its a baby shower

Amy and Lee came back home to celebrate the their new baby with a baby shower. My sister Heidi, Mims & myself put together a pretty fun bash.

We had a number of guests and friends that were able to come enjoy an open house style baby shower with yummy food and fun company. I don't do the baby shower games so we skipped those all together and instead had each guest put together a scrapbook page instead. It is a perfect way to make sure that Amy and Lee have at least one decorated book to put pictures of the cute bundle of joy!

We had a very good afternoon. It is so fun to have Amy and Lee home from Boston and be able to spend some time with them. I am very lucky to have the amazing family that I have.
Heidi, Amy, & Me. I love my sisters!

Of course me and Mims. We had a great dinner and enjoyed the person...old person...that Mims is. After dinner, a few of us headed for some laughs at the movies. We saw 'What happens in Vegas'. It was a good celebration and night.

its back to a normal wednesday

Our world is back in full swing and back to 'normal'. So of course that means a Wednesday play date with Josh. He loves Wednesdays and is conditioned for an afternoon of fun.

Josh gets to plan the afternoon of his liking which includes lunch and the activity. Today, he choose Training Table (who am I kidding, he picks that place for the cheese fries every time) for lunch.Due to the rain, Josh had a few different places Josh was contemplating going to. The Utah Museum of Natural History was the place that won out.

He was able to learn about, see, and interact with dinosaurs, Native American history, check out crystals and rock formations, earthquakes, among other things. He loved it and we had a great time. Yeah for Wednesdays!
